LIMOUSINE A/C REPAIR

This summer has been a scorcher and from what people are saying, it’s not going to get any better. We’ve been experiencing a huge local demand for limousine A/C repair and phone calls across the country for simple questions and help. Finding someone willing to tackle your issues is half the battle. Limos are a scary endeavor for some shops and for others it can cost you an arm and a leg. If you are not careful, you may not get the results you are looking for. Here are a few tips to help you along the way.

Know your system. Have it checked.

Do you have (2) compressors? How many blower units do you have and where are they located? How many condenser fans are under the car and can you hear them turning on?

In most cases, the first step is to have your system charged and leak checked. This will give you a quick determination on whether or not something is serious. Be sure not to let the shop servicing your limo overfill your system. This will surely cause you damage if done incorrectly. When it comes to limos, many shops won’t know what to do if the machine doesn’t fix the problem. You may need to seek the help of a professional if things don’t check out.

Very Important!

If your findings lead you to replacing a compressor, we highly recommend you check the oraphis tube and drier for metal shavings. If you encounter this, you must FLUSH the system. Not EVACUTE but FLUSH the system. This should only be done by a professional shop. It requires the use of a special pump and A/C flush fluid. It’s not cheap so be prepared. Once your system has been cleaned, you are now safe to move forward.

A/C limousine repair can be a tough thing to troubleshoot.

Different limo builders have different techniques. Some do it better than others and some simply don’t have a clue. This can make it difficult for basic repair facilities. Even with our experience, we run into different problems everyday. Be sure the limo has been properly plumbed for proper circulation of Freon. In some cases, a simple misplacement of a hose can create you problems.

Condensers fans are essential for a good rear system.

Without these fans, your rear system won’t cool the way you need it no matter how well everything is working. If you don’t hear the fans, check for blown fuses. This is very common.

Depending on which system is failing, front or rear, will determine on where you will begin your troubleshooting. If you have a single compressor system, in most cases everything will be intertwined.

Hopefully some of these tips will help you get you’re A/C nice and cold. Nowadays, they make enhanced units for mobile vehicles. These are perfect for limos in warm weather climates. Call us anytime at 888-301-5858
