FINAL BUILD INSPECTION TIPS

Building a new limousine can be a rewarding experience but no matter who you build with, there are things to consider. First and foremost, many of the limousines manufactured today were never meant to be as heavy and long as they are.

HUMMER LIMO

Adding several thousand pounds of steel to the chassis can and will have its effect. Every vehicle will settle differently and it’s important to understand the physics of the process. Experienced limo builders have several methods to properly distribute the weight and align for maximum safety and clean body lines. Keep in mind that severe problems will not arise immediately. Be sure to work with a limousine builder that offers a solid warranty.

1) Stress cracks are bad news! Depending on where the stress cracks occur and the direction they are going, will determine the severity of the problem. Stress cracks can mean a variety of things. Bad body work, bad welds, bad material and/or a lack of structural support. You will need to address the issue right away. If rust gets to it first, it will lead to bigger problems.

2) For long term protection, demand that your builder undercoats or rubberizes the undercarriage completely. Trust us, this is very important and most limo builders won’t do it unless you ask them to. There are several new quality undercoating products on the market that don’t cost a fortune.

3) Request the paint code of your new limo ride right away. Keep a small can of touch up-paint to go along with you. If your limo has a custom paint job, this request is critical and will make your life easier if a future accident were to occur.

4) LOOK OUT FOR LEAKING!!! We’ve been fixing many repair requests for leaking windows. If you don’t catch this right away it will lead to potential electrical problems and bad odors. If your builder does not properly seal your windows and vinyl top, within time it will lead to leaking. Sometimes this can occur 4 – 10 months after the conversion.

5) Lastly, be sure to inspect the entire limo closely. Take it for a long ride which includes turns, highway and plenty of stops. Listen for vibrations, knocks and noises. Don’t hesitate to request them fixed. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEW LIMOUSINE.
